Racial Injustice Resources

Throughout the history of the Greater Akron Jewish Community, we have always fought for and advocated on behalf of those for whom justice is blind. The institutional racism, xenophobia, and disintegration of civil discourse we have witnessed in our country as of late demands that we redouble our efforts. Our Jewish values and principles are rooted in justice (tzedek), loving kindness (chesed) and repairing the world (tikkun olam). The Torah teaches acceptance of all people, without prejudice or bias.

Please enjoy and learn from the resources below and the recording of our Zoom Panel Meeting: "Conversation on Racial Injustice". Our aim is to educate ourselves, become better allies and activists and highlight specific anti-racist action steps, with a greater mission to ensure freedom and justice for all People of Color.

Our Jewish community cannot remain silent and must act, in tandem with our community partners, by learning, standing, marching, and calling shoulder to shoulder against systemic racism and sanctioned hatred. We must also make it known that Black Lives do, and always have, Mattered. We thank you in advance for opening your mind and helping to move the world toward greater justice, empathy, and peace.
